This bill contained several key policy and funding authorization provisions authored by Turner as a member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC).
Policy provisions include two to help combat sexual assault in the military, one to require a study to determine if the Air Force’s plan to cut the number of civilian firefighters at Wright-Patterson and nationally meets a minimum safety standard’s requirement for military installations and one to provide direct hire authority for certain positions at defense laboratories like Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson to address the requirement to hire personnel quickly in support of the BRAC 2005.
Funding authorizations provisions included $10 million in funds for continued cleanup at the Miamisburg Mound facility and $14.7 million in military construction funds for a Security Forces Operations Building at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
